Story Behind the Image:

Nacoma: translation “great, free spirit”

Nacoma is a proud and noble stallion of the Clearwater Region. He is the unusual colour known as Rabicano, which means he has a smattering of white hairs mixed within his rich red-bay coat. Horses with this colouring are said to be strong-minded, and indeed he proves this with the courage that he displays when protecting his large herd of mares and foals. He is also distinguished by his unique, jagged white blaze, and white legs, which he often passes on to his offspring. Nacoma, great, free spirit – protector and progenitor of the Clearwater wild ones – Alberta’s treasure.
