Story Behind the Image:

Horses can sense the heartbeat of a human from four feet away. Within their own kind they will synchronize their heartbeats to aid in the alerting of danger. The social communities of horses are complex, and much can be learned by observing the dynamics herd dynamics or pair-bonding between horses. Mutual grooming has several purposes including relaxation and social interaction. Horses that groom one another are often ‘herd friends’ or males and females courting. In this image the two young horses seek companionship against the backdrop texture of lodgepole pines.
